TAMPA, Fla. — Nearly four years after gunfire tore through a crowded costume party on Harney Road outside Tampa, Fla., Hillsborough County sheriff’s detectives are again asking the people who were there to tell them what they saw.

The shooting happened on Nov. 1, 2022, at a home in the 9000 block of Harney Road where a large party was going on. Deputies were sent after callers reported shots. Detectives say an argument broke out first, and then someone opened fire.

Two people were hit. The bullets killed a girl who was only 15, while a 19-year-old man was hurt but lived.

No one has been charged. With the anniversary arriving this weekend, the sheriff’s office said detectives are convinced that several guests from that night have never spoken with investigators, and that their memories could point to whoever pulled the trigger.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement released Saturday that the girl’s family is still grieving four years on, and he asked anyone who knows anything to reach out to his detectives.

The office stressed that even a detail that seems minor could matter. The case is still an open investigation, and the agency’s public affairs staff will share any new developments.

The sheriff’s office has not named a suspect or released a description of the shooter. Its renewed appeal is aimed squarely at partygoers who were in and around the house that night and who may have seen or heard something that has never reached detectives.

Tips can be called in to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
