Clearwater, Florida – Fourteen graduate students from The American College of Greece (ACG – Deree) recently participated in an informative workshop titled ‘The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Digital Marketing’ at the University of South Florida (USF). This event took place in April and is part of a three-year ongoing collaboration between ACG and USF aimed at enriching the educational experiences of students from both institutions.
This educational initiative has included sending groups of ACG Communication students to various academic institutions across the United States for the past five years. Previous trips have included visits to major cities such as San Francisco, allowing students to explore diverse academic environments while enhancing their educational journey.
Dr. Katerina Diamantaki, who serves as the Strategic Communication and Public Relations Coordinator at Deree, organized the program in partnership with Mrs. Athanasia A. Dimis and Mr. Mark Koulianos from USF. Both Dimis and Koulianos share Greek roots, which adds a personal connection to the collaboration. Koulianos, a third-generation Greek-American, hails from Tarpon Springs, while Dimis is an alumna of ACG, graduating in 2006. Their shared heritage has fostered a strong bond and commitment to showcasing the talents of ACG students at USF.
The workshop consisted of interactive sessions led by industry expert Garry M. Galloway, who introduced the students to various artificial intelligence tools used in digital marketing. A visit to the USF Biometric Lab, hosted by Dr. Carter Morgan, highlighted the laboratory’s status as one of the largest research facilities in the world. The students also engaged in leadership sessions with David Hill, focusing on professional development and the application of AI in marketing.
Students expressed how the workshop has been a source of inspiration, expanding their knowledge on how artificial intelligence can be leveraged within marketing strategies. Participants, including Penelope, Asimina, and Polytimi, noted their appreciation for the USF community and found the experience significant in informing their ongoing academic projects.
The collaboration between ACG and USF emphasizes the commitment to providing internationally recognized academic programs with relevance in today’s job market. Koulianos emphasized the high caliber of the ACG students, comparing them favorably to the talented USF student body, and indicated a desire for continued growth in the USF-ACG relationship moving forward.
This initiative serves to highlight the importance of the Greek Diaspora in shaping globally-minded leaders. Through such programs, students are equipped to innovate and connect across borders, preparing them for the challenges of a rapidly changing global landscape. By enriching academic and professional experiences through interactive and practical learning, ACG and USF are cultivating a new generation of leaders well-prepared to navigate the evolving sector of digital marketing.
As the ACG students returned to Greece, they carried with them not only new knowledge but also a renewed sense of purpose in their studies, particularly regarding the application of AI in marketing projects. The exchange of ideas and cultural insights between the two academic institutions looks set to continue fostering meaningful connections, enhancing educational opportunities, and inspiring future leaders.
