Each scholarship recipient was awarded $1,500 to assist with expenses such as tuition, books, and lab fees for their upcoming college education. The funds for these scholarships were generated through various ABWC fundraisers, donations from club members, and family memorials, along with support from the Southshore Community Foundation.

The selection of the scholarship recipients was carried out through interviews conducted by the ABWC Scholarship Committee. The committee consisted of dedicated members including chair Sharon Vasquez, along with Kim Alkins, Brenda Fricks, Joan Kelly, Jan Osborne, and Ann Robbins.

The recipients from East Bay High School include:

  • Quinlan Jones – Florida Polytechnic University, majoring in cyber security engineering
  • Michael Morales – University of Tampa, majoring in information science and cyber security
  • Isaiah Sewell – Florida Atlantic University, majoring in biology
  • Kayla Teekaram – University of South Florida, majoring in cybersecurity

The scholarships awarded to graduates from Lennard High School include:

  • Amari Bell – Florida State University, majoring in political science
  • James Drass – University of South Florida, majoring in biomedical science
  • Niyohni Gibbons – Florida International University, majoring in nursing
  • Brayden Nystedt – Hillsborough Community College for fire science and Pasco-Hernando State College’s Fire Academy
  • Mitchell Richison – Florida Atlantic University, majoring in finance
  • Ricardo Roman – University of Central Florida, majoring in kinesiology
  • Angelina Vazquez – University of South Florida, majoring in biomedical science

Additionally, the recipient from Tampa Bay Technical High School is:

  • Angela Caglayan – Palm Beach Atlantic University, majoring in nursing

About ABWC

The Apollo Beach Woman’s Club was established in 1959 and has long been committed to promoting sociability among members, providing educational scholarships, and contributing to various charitable causes. Monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at noon, except for June, July, and August, at the Ruskin Moose Lodge #183.

ABWC is recognized as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to community service and charitable outreach. In addition to scholarship funding, the organization actively supports local elementary schools, the Mary & Martha House, and numerous community projects.
