The open house event allowed attendees to explore the updated facilities and interact with instructors and students engaged in programs such as dental assisting, surgical technology, welding technology, and culinary arts.

The college has been a crucial part of the community since its inception in the 1979-80 school year when it opened in the old Sears building on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa as the first adult center in the district.

Renovations and Upgrades

Erwin Technical College has made notable upgrades to its infrastructure and equipment, responding to the evolving needs of the workforce. Recent improvements include the latest in automotive equipment and enhancements to both the electricity and nursing programs. Among the most significant renovations are complete remodels of four key programs:

Culinary Arts: The kitchen facilities have been modernized to offer students a state-of-the-art culinary training environment.
Welding Technology: The welding lab now features 24 new welding booths, advanced equipment, and a new ventilation system to improve safety and efficiency.
Dental Assisting: A new dental clinic has been established, boasting digital scanning machines and modern dental chairs for hands-on training.
Surgical Technology: An entirely new surgical technology suite has been constructed, complete with two classrooms, operating rooms, surgery prep rooms, and advanced sterilization equipment.

In addition to program-specific upgrades, the college has also improved its overall environment. Renovations are evident in updated hallways, a refurbished cafeteria, and offices. The campus has been enhanced with new furniture, fresh paint, a repaved parking lot, and new landscaping to create a welcoming atmosphere.

The open house also introduced visitors to new programming, which now includes 22 career certificate programs along with adult education classes aimed at English learners and GED preparation. These programs are designed to provide students with the skills necessary for sustainable employment in in-demand job markets.
