Brandon, Florida – On August 6, the Central Hillsborough County Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce united to host their annual Business and Education Event, dedicated to supporting first-year teachers from more than 50 public and private schools across Riverview, Brandon, and Seffner. This initiative aimed to provide essential classroom supplies for new educators as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

Over 35 businesses participated in the event that took place at The Regent, showcasing tables filled with various resources and materials aimed at assisting teachers. Educators had the opportunity to collect supplies in bags provided to them, helping to ease their transition into teaching and start the year equipped with necessary tools.

AdventHealth Riverview served as the presenting sponsor, with significant support from The Mosaic Company and Christopher Ligori & Associates as cafeteria sponsors and Rasmussen University, which sponsored the coffee bar. Additional sponsors included Valedictorian sponsors such as MyEyeDr., iCodeSchool, The Regent, Hillsborough Community College, Suncoast Credit Union, Herzing University, and HCA Brandon Hospital. The event included breakfast, coffee, and juice, providing a platform for teachers to network with local business leaders. School administrators also took part, offering encouragement and support to the new educators. As the event unfolded, Chamber presidents Jeff Campbell and Amber Aaron welcomed educators and business partners, acknowledging the generosity of the participating businesses. Board chairs Annette Bilyeu and Steve Manning further expressed gratitude and motivation to those attending.

Insightful remarks were delivered by Hillsborough County School Board member Lynn Gray, who wished success to the new teachers in the approaching school year. AnnMarie Courtney and Owen Young, representatives from Hillsborough County Public Schools, also spoke to the gathered participants about the importance of supportive community engagement in education.

As part of the closing sentiments, each teacher left the event with a ream of copy paper and a special gift bag courtesy of the Riverview Woman’s Club.
