Tampa, Florida – Multiple Homicides Under Investigation

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a series of homicides that occurred in Tampa and surrounding areas on June 5, 2025. The incidents, occurring within hours of each other, have raised concerns about community safety as authorities work to uncover the details surrounding each case.

The first incident took place at 12:25 a.m. in the 500 block of Jeanal Place in Tampa. Initial reports indicate that a shooting unfolded, resulting in a woman found outside the home suffering from a lower body injury, while a man was discovered deceased inside with upper body trauma. Investigators believe that an altercation between the two escalated to gunfire, leading to the tragic outcomes. The identity of the man is pending notification of next of kin.

In a separate case occurring later that day, another man was found dead in New Port Richey during daylight hours. Investigators have indicated that his death appears to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat posed to the public. Unfortunately, limited information has been released regarding the man or the circumstances around his death.

Another homicide investigation began around 3:15 a.m. in Seffner, where deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Phillips Drive. Upon their arrival, they found a man who had been shot at least once in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff Chad Chronister has condemned the violence and called on the community to assist in identifying the circumstances that led to this tragic event.

As the day progressed, another shooting incident occurred at approximately 4:19 p.m. near Progress Boulevard and South 82nd Street in Tampa. A male passenger in a vehicle sustained gunshot wounds while engaging in conversation at an intersection with a suspect. In an effort to escape from the shooter, the vehicle fled the scene, but unfortunately struck a motorized bicyclist, who suffered only minor injuries. The male passenger was later transported to the hospital but was pronounced deceased at 5:45 p.m. Sheriff Chronister labeled this incident a “tragic loss of life” and has urged anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.

Each of the homicide investigations is currently active, with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office working diligently to gather facts and resolve the cases. Investigators encourage community members who may have information regarding these incidents to contact their office at 813-247-8200, as their assistance could prove crucial in addressing the underlying issues contributing to the violence.

This wave of violence has called into question the inherent safety of the community, especially as so many incidents occurred within a single day. As investigations continue, authorities remain focused on gaining clarity and seeking justice for the victims and their families.
